Wilderness Kids Club is getting an upgrade in 2019! We will be extending our season through August, adding 4 more weeks of camp and so doubling the number of days of Wilderness Kids Club! Read further for details.

NOTE: Campers are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the first week of camp. Even if your camper has been coming to Ravenwood for many years, the first week is an essential time for understanding safety and establishing a healthy and happy social group. Set your camper up for success!

Imagine sneaking on your belly through the brush to catch a glimpse of a young fawn or walking barefoot through the forest listening for bird calls and the rush of the creek to find your way back to the fire…Ravenwood kids experience high impact moments like these every day during Wilderness Kids Club, and they usually come home tired, dirty, and happy because of it!

“I love camp! I get to make forts, learn songs and lots of other fun things. Best of all I get to make new friends.” Emma Treweiler, camper

Learning through our senses is powerful stuff. Nature provides unlimited possibilities for curiosity and wonder and a plethora of healthy stimuli for the mind, body, and spirit to explore and develop. Our expert mentors are here to support your child’s journey of discovery and awareness through the development of life skills (fire making/tending, basketry, wood working, animal and bird tracking, plant medicines and food, and group and individual communication skills).

“Our children absolutely loved Wilderness Camp and teaching us their skills, songs, games, and fun! It’s such a high quality, fun program with rich, rich learning for the entire family. We’re so thankful for this incredible program.” Nikki and Doug Reed, parents

We are committed to “knowing our students” as individuals and mentoring them accordingly. Our staff takes extra time every day to prepare activities and debrief our experiences with the goal of matching our efforts with the observed needs of each child in the group. You simply won’t find a summer camp anywhere else that invests the kind of time we do to create the richest possible learning environment for your child, and we do it because we love it!

“Thank you for offering such a great experience!  My Simma is raised by two non-wilderness parents. When we signed Simma up, we weren’t sure how it would go, but each day she came home with a new song and new dirt under her nails.   She was thrilled! When we visited camp the last day, I was amazed at the confidence she had being outside at camp. She had become a little nature child in that 1 short session of Mondays and Tuesdays.” -Chelsea Lefcourt, parent

We have redesigned Wilderness Kids Club in 2019! We’re extending the season through August, effectively doubling the number of days campers can come enjoy Ravenwood. We’ve also changed our attendance policy, so each camper’s social group stays consistent throughout the summer, and we’ve added more opportunity for the age groups to divide and do age-appropriate activities. Here are the details of what’s changing:

  • Camp starts on June 24th and ends on August 13th.
  • Campers are STRONGLY ancouraged attend the first week of camp. Even if your camper has been coming to Ravenwood for many years, the first week is an essential time for understanding safety and establishing a healthy and happy social group.
  • Base tuition covers 14 of the possible 16 camp days in each session, allowing students to be absent for two days without wasted tuition costs. If your camper has perfect attendance through the summer, just add two more days to complete the whole season!
  • We’ll be adding to our physical camp site, so the older campers (age 9-12) and younger campers (age 6-8) can have their own group and tipi sites for part of the camp day, opening up new opportunities for more focused skill-building, more one-on-one nature time with smaller group sizes, and more fun nature games.
