School Nature Days

FULL & HALF DAY OUTINGS NEAR SCHOOL FOR GRADES pre-K-12

If your school has a nearby nature spot we can come to you. Bring your class out to romp in the woods with Ravenwood!

“The kids learn more about themselves and each other in three short days than they do in weeks of school. Over the years as an elementary teacher I have found the single most important factor in a child’s education is the relationships that are formed. Ravenwood provides us with the opportunity to build such relationships. Thank you for continuing to provide us the opportunity to learn and grow with your staff.”
Joe Pitts, 5th Grade Teacher

Do you struggle to engage your kinesthetic learners and inspire your most gifted students?  Is creating a sense of community, connection with nature, life skills, and self development important to you? Are you ready to get outside and breathe some fresh air and have fun with your students? If the answer is YES, you just found the perfect experience for your class!

Modern students struggle with attention, character, compassion, and motivation. Ravenwood can help! We are all about connection. We know that our relationships weave a web of connections that we must learn to tend. Well-tended connections with nature, each other and self help replenish attention, build character, foster compassionate relationships, and awaken curiosity and motivation.

Nature connection teaches fun, relevant skills. Skills inherent in tracking and awareness activities are critical building blocks for inquiry and the scientific method. Studying regional natural history through experiential learning brings ecological literacy to a new level. When we lead students in a line of inquiry about a track, a bird or a wild plant, we model an embodied way of learning through questioning. When we practice survival skills we model grit, ingenuity and character. And our songs, stories and games motivate the mind, heart and body to learn and be active in nature.

Our core nature curriculum creates opportunities for deliberate practice of routines that bring us into connection. Whether we’re teaching survival skills or plant ID, we’re modeling conduct and connection.
